Tony Lord - Director

Kathy StrongTony’s background in electronics and information systems gives him the skills and experience to assist Survey Innovation’s customers with setting up their surveys and then analysing the results. An experienced trainer, Tony is a qualified professional Chartered Engineer and a member of the Chartered Management Institute, with over ten years experience as a business consultant, including time spent working in Russia.

One of Tony’s skills is in the area of project management. It is well known that many projects run late or fail to meet the original business objectives. Often the underlying causes lie in the attitudes of the people who are engaged in defining and implementing projects. The key to successful project management lies in determining and resolving counter productive factors and forces.

Similar considerations apply to managing the wider aspects of customer and supplier relationships. The use of surveys and questionnaires is invaluable in understanding these aspects and informing business decisions.

Recent projects include:

  • Setting up complex panel based email surveys for an Internet portal company in the medical sector. Frequent surveys are being constructed and run with the client expressing delight at the quality of service and the responses. Advice and discussions are undertaken concerning the use of incentives to encourage responses.
  • Assisting an experienced survey operator with the construction of an email based survey to support an existing mail based survey. The survey was adjusted to suit the new medium and then tested before being made ready for use.
  • Deriving and conducting a survey to provide data for a membership organisation’s register of skills. This replaces previous internal attempts using either paper or emailed spreadsheets that generally gained low responses. The work included preparation of special reports to allow the client to analyse the data for a specific application.
In his leisure time, Tony is a regular dinghy sailor at his local club and enjoys the challenge of a game of bridge.

Tony’s years of experience in the management, analysis and use of information, coupled with his training experience make him a valuable member of the Survey Innovation team.
